Petroglyphs are rock carvings made by pecking directly on the rock surface using a stone chisel and a hammerstone.  The sheep and ram have been the subject of petroglyphs for thousands of years.  Below are two examples that are several thousands of years old.

This petroglyph shows a hunter shooting an arrow at a ram.

These sheep can be found in Moab, Utah in the United States.
