To be an icon one has had to make an indelible impact on the culture. Hip hop culture’s first mega star without question was MC Hammer. In his era, no one was as popular. The artifacts on display in this section bear witness to his impact: MC Hammer lunch box, MC Hammer View Master, MC Hammer doll, and MC Hammer Tour Jacket. Jay Z and Kanye West are hip hop’s first billionaires and have taken hip hop to heights never thought of in the early days of the culture. Will Smith, Ice T, Ice Cube, Queen Latifah, and LL Cool J are hip hop pioneers in Hollywood who have created a lane for the culture to be taken serious on the big screen. The legacies of Tupac and Biggie are as iconic as it comes in hip hop. Their action figures in this section are a nuanced reminder of their great contribution to the culture.
