One of the most important aspects of a movie’s success is in its promotion. Movie posters are an intricate part of the equation for major box office numbers during the durations of a movie’s time at the box office. This section shows some of the earliest and most impactful hip hop movies. The Wild Style poster is signed by director Charlie Ahearn and MC Sha Rock. The civil rights icon Harry Belafonte saw the genius of this street sub-culture in the early 80’s and invested in the youth as the executive producer of Beat Street giving the public hip hop’s first mainstream feature film. The movie 8 Mile was a proud moment for Detroit and featured local talent such as Proof, Miz Korona, DJ Head, N’Jeri Earth, Strike, Supa Emcee, Marv One and others.
